Archivists manage and preserve collections of historical records and documents. They work with collections of all types, from books, photographs and maps to audio, film and electronic files.
△Archivist Job Duties Include:
A:negotiating the buying or donation of archive materials and assessing their importance.
B:giving talks and organising presentations, displays and exhibitions
C:making records available to users in formats such as photocopies, microfiche and computer-based tools carrying out research
D:helping people to use the archives
E:identifying, dating, cataloguing and indexing archive materials
F:making sure materials are stored correctly and kept in good condition
△Career Goals For Archivist:
A: I love archiving records, being part of a team working with people as well as alone, organizing on the computer and hard copy documents, working with professional people with all different backgrounds and personalities. I am a people person who loves to please others.
B: I am a Film School graduate with a Master?s in Library Science, a background in Film Archives, and experience in designing and teaching after-school film and media courses for middle and high school students. I also have experience in other film related fields, such as, marketing and production.
C: It is my goal to be employed at an entry-level position in a museum or archive, assisting the archivist or curator in their daily duties.
D: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. The serenity prayer most people associate with alcoholism and addiction, however it can be an inspiration for addressing life altering changes.
